Local schools can have new outdoor opportunities
Learning Fields CIC, the social enterprise based at Nag’s Head Farm, Hoff, near Appleby, has been awarded the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge.
The award was given by The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom, which aims to provide all young people with the opportunity to experience frequent, continuous and progressive learning outside the classroom. Learning Fields was founded in 2007 to provide educational and environmental opportunities to groups and individuals of all ages and abilities.
Learning Fields Founder Director Alex Chalmers said, “We are delighted to have been awarded our Quality Badge, as it will help to reassure any schools looking for outside visits with a farming or environmental theme. We appreciate that teachers and schools have to fit learning opportunities around the tight constraints of time, funds and the curriculum. They have to be sure that where they choose to visit is both worthwhile and safe.
“Our Quality Badge means that we have been independently visited and assessed, and that teachers and parents can be confident in our standard of learning opportunities, procedures and facilities, including for those who so wish, our residential block.
“We hope this means we will welcome even more younger people to Learning Fields in the future”.

Access For All
Although Learning Fields is on a working farm with some rougher and uneven terrain, we can ensure that our less mobile visitors can 'access all areas' through the use of a vehicle specially for this purpose.
Learning Fields Community Interest Company does not have to generate huge profits for shareholders, but simply has to benefit the community. Our charging policy is to cover costs and a contribution towards training and investment in the future. As each visit is individually tailored to your needs on that day, prices can only be confirmed after agreement.
